ABOUT MUSIC IN MY MIND:
My dad was born in 1959 and grew up listening to classic rock like The Beatles. However, it was James Taylor, a singer/songwriter signed to Apple Records label, who was his favorite.
My mom, on the other hand, was born in 1971. She grew up idolizing artists like Michael Jackson and Madonna.

My parents met in the 90s and it was at a James Taylor concert that my dad told my mom that he loved her for the first time. Not long after, I was born.
My parents named me Taylor because of that concert.

My childhood was equal parts listening to my dad play Blackbird on his guitar by the campfire and singing along to pop stars like Britney Spears during car rides with my mom. Apart from a few piano lessons, their music was all I knew until I discovered the internet.
I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In middle school, I spent my days listening to the Hot 100 and fangirling over One Direction. In high school, I discovered SoundCloud and made it my personal mission to discover up and coming rappers. It was also in high school that I fell in love with journalism and eventually became the editor-in-chief of yearbook.

Now, as a journalism and multimedia studies major at Fort Lewis College, I am taking a music writing course. I would like to think that the soundtrack to my life is a healthy balance of pop and hip-hop and, when I'm in the mood, some James Taylor.

Ultimately, The purpose of this website is to share my music writing work.
